*In the opening scene there is a constellation in the shape of the Luxo lamp.
*A113 is back as Andy’s Mum’s licence plate once again.
*Andy’s calendar shows some concept art from A Bug’s Life.
*The famous Luxo ball appears in several places, including Andy’s room, Al’s Toy Barn, an advert for Al’s Toy Barn and a clip from Tin Toy (1988).
*The TV in Andy’s room shows a bunch of clips from Pixar shorts including Luxo Jr. (1986), Red’s Dream (1987), Tin Toy and Knick Knack (1989), as well as fruit juice and Listerol adverts which Pixar animated in the 80s.
*Al has an abstract painting in his apartment of Tuck & Roll and Dot from A Bug’s Life.
*Right before the famous traffic cone sequence, Buzz karate chops through some shrubbery. Look closely and you’ll see Heimlich from A Bug’s Life crawling across the stem.
*The guy Al brings in to fix up Woody is actually Geri from the Pixar short film, Geri’s Game (1997).
*When Geri is searching through his draws, he opens one containing the chess pieces also from Geri’s Game.
*Of course Al’s Toy Barn appeared in the first film on a TV advertisement when Buzz realises he’s a toy.
* The tree from Ant Island in A Bug’s Life is used during Jessie’s ‘When She Loved Me’ sequence.
*Al’s toy barn features a section filled with A Bug’s Life toys.
*The pink bear from the first film appears in bulk inside Al’s Toy Barn. They’re right behind Rex.
*When Tour Guide Barbie takes the toys down the Buzz Lightyear aisle of Al’s Toy Barn, she says “back in 1995, short-sighted retailers did not make enough dolls to meet demand.” This is a sly dig at the toy manufacturers as there actually was a shortage of Buzz Lightyear dolls that Christmas.
*Music from A Bug’s Life is played in the elevator in Al’s building.
*Obviously the Pizza Planet truck isn’t very difficult to spot.
*In A Bug’s Life, Manny the Praying Mantis performs a magic trick using a Chinese takeaway box. It reappears next to Hamm on the floor of the Pizza Planet truck.
* In the airport there is an announcement for LassetAir Flight A113, a reference to both the CalArts class number and director John Lasseter.
*Flik and Heimlich from A Bug’s Life appear in the credits talking about a possible sequel right before the director shouts action and Buzz knocks them out of the way.
